So how to judge the quality of line array? Many people have their own answers to this question. The most common is to listen with your ears. Especially the sound engineer who is used to performing, absolutely believe in his ears!

From the perspective of a R & D Engineer and system engineer, we can judge from the following points:
1. Look at the unit size and frequency division point of the speaker
For example, if the treble is a 44mm diameter treble, the safe working frequency should not be lower than 2K. If the midrange is four 6-and-a-half inches, you can judge that the design is unreasonable, because the minimum horizontal spacing of the two 6-and-a-half inches should exceed 7 inches, and the lowest point of the 7-inch interference frequency is about 1.34k (formula 242). For the safety of the unit, If the frequency division point is 2K, the midrange will interfere at 1.34k. In order not to interfere, if the frequency division point is 1.3k, the diaphragm of 44 treble will soon break. So it is completely unreasonable design.
2. Look at the impedance curve
Especially for bass, if the speaker is designed unreasonably, the impedance curve will be seen soon. If the speaker is designed reasonably according to the unit T / S parameters, the low-frequency characteristics will not be poor. If the impedance curve shows that the volume is not enough, or the tuning is low, or the tuning is high, or there is resonance, or the volume is too large, the low-frequency will not be good. For loudspeakers with poor impedance curve, the designer`s theoretical foundation is often insufficient. In Guangdong loudspeakers, Shanzhai style is popular, and it is difficult for Chinese loudspeakers to enter the European and American markets. One reason is that there is almost no original design. Many people spend a lot of time making loudspeakers with the original method of trial and error, and few factories design professional loudspeakers with scientific methods, This is also the sorrow of the industry!
3. Communicate with developers
Before listening to the speaker, if the speaker R & D personnel can`t find a factory for communication, it is often copy products. If the R & D personnel can`t explain his design ideas clearly, the speaker may not be as good as that. How to determine the speaker structure and frequency division point, and the relationship between the size selection of each unit and the dynamic margin of the whole speaker.

4. Whether the supporting system of flow is considered
Many line array speakers are used for mobile performances. If the hanger, weight and handle design of line array do not consider rapid installation, it will not meet the requirements of performance in reality. Whether the supporting system cabinet has simple operation, small volume and light weight, whether the wiring and power supply in the cabinet are connected, whether there is a special interface on the front of the cabinet for convenient connection, whether the processor has a standard preset program in it, whether it is OK to send full frequency to the cabinet, and whether there are independent inputs for full frequency and ultra-low. Whether there is a supporting rain cover, whether there is a supporting horn cable, whether the design of the hanger is reasonable and safe (7:1 safety factor, whether there is a tensile test), whether it can be hung at a single point, and whether the vertical inclination of the array can be adjusted (there is a porous beam in the middle), whether the transportation package is an empty box or a wheel plate, and whether the lock and wheel of the air box must be made of reliable and solid materials (these two parts are most likely to break down).
5. Is the parameter curve of the speaker true
Many factory materials have curves, but is it true? If you can directly test the frequency response and phase curve of the speaker after listening, it is ideal. The phase curve is better to separate the unit test. If the phase curves measured separately for treble, midrange and bass do not coincide at the frequency division point, it indicates that the parameters of the speaker processor are unreasonable, and the frequency response is not close to the frequency division point It can`t be normal.
At a distance of 4 meters from more than 4 line arrays, the axis and offset axis are 45 degrees (also 4 meters) Measure one curve and observe the difference between the two curves. In the frequency band of 700-12k, the two curves are just uniform and the difference is about 6dB, which indicates that the horizontal coverage of the line array is 90 degrees and the directivity is good. The microphone is placed on the axis above 50m to measure the frequency response, and the high frequency can still be straight to 13K, which indicates that the high frequency of the speaker is good.
If the unit can still be straight to 12K at 80m, it shows that it is a good speaker. Has the unit done AES power experiment? If the R & D personnel can`t even say what the method of AES power experiment is, they must have not done power experiment, then the actual power of this speaker is questionable.
